How to lose weight eating fast food
Why is it that a lot of people like to eat fast foods? Certainly, as the name suggests, it is fast and convenient. But that is the only reason.
Fast foods are popular because they are designed in a way to convince your brain that it is getting nutrition when you eat them, but not just fill you up.
Receptors in your mouth tell your brain of the information of three micronutrients of proteins, fats, carbohydrates of the fast food you are eating, and your stomach also tells you how filling that food is for your body.
You make decisions of what you eat largely based on memories of past eating experiences. The effect of psychobiology kicks in to influence your decision.
When you eat something tasty, the feeling is registered in your brain. The next time you see the same food, smell, or even think of that food, your brain starts to pull the memories that were registered in your brain. These memories can cause the craving of the food from the wonderful memory.
Fast food companies are spending millions of dollars to design foods to attract you to come back next time. If you want to lose weight, what can you do about it?
Do you want to eat burgers, french fries, and other fast foods, but don't want to gain weight? Well, in this article I'm going to explain to you how you can lose weight and eat anything you want, including fast food!
First I want to be clear that I am not promoting fast food. There are many healthy foods that we can choose, but people don’t choose those either because (a) those are not tasty, or (b) those foods are not easy to make.
In the interest of taste and convenience, we still eat fast food, more or less. But we want to lose weight even we fast food. Can we do that?
Let me suggest the following four points to help you lose weight no matter what you eat:
Tell Yourself that you can Eat Anything you want so you don’t need to crave any peculiar food
When you allow yourself to eat whatever you want, you no longer deprive yourself of any particular food.
Mentally this is important because you don’t need to spend effort on controlling yourselves which is never easy. Normally people can’t last long to force themselves. The reason why so many people fail is that their cravings become unbearable. Very often these cravings are for the foods that we deprive ourselves of.
So here is the key, depriving yourself will only intensify your cravings for food, and most people will fail at some point. So tell yourself that you can eat anything you want.
Calories, pay attention to the right foods
It is a scientific truth that you lose weight if the calories you take in is less than the calorie you use.
A calorie is a calorie. There is no difference between a calorie from a burger or a calorie from a vegetable. If a calory is not burned, it is stored in your body.
This leads to a concept that everyone knows, which is that to successfully lose fat, you simply eat fewer calories than you burn off. It is too basic, I know, but that is the truth.
How do I eat fewer calories? You ask. Well, for one thing, you should divert your attention from those foods that can easily make you fat to those foods that don’t.
There are all kinds of diets to help people lose weight. Although there are differences, one basic common element is that these diets offer a total calorie intake usually less than we need a day.
This is the fundamental of it. As long as you eat fewer calories than you burn off a day, you will lose weight no matter what you eat. But how about your craving for fast food? Read on.
Habit of Eating Less
You may not believe it, but allowing yourself to eat fast food can actually help you eat healthier. This is because it reduces our cravings for it. This will reduce your attention on fast food and it can even reduce the amount you actually take.
I know from personal experience that when I was following strict diet rules for a periold of time, I end up having unbearable cravings that I was always ended up with more of the foods that I should not eat.
Since I can eat whatever I want now, my emotions are a lot more intact. If I want to eat something, I go for it, but I don't feel the urge to eat a large amount of quantities to make up for my craving.
That in fact help me to eat healthier now. If I crave for french fries, I'll go have a small order and share with other people. That way I feel satisfied and I don’t consume lots of calories. If not, a week from now I might lose control and eat a large order by myself.
It is a matter of choice!
Be Consistent
The lost weight will bounce back if you don’t have consistency. You need to be able to stick to a habit of eating less in order to maintain an ideal weight for a longer term,
The general rule of thumb is to lose one to two pounds of fat a week. Therefore if you want to lose 20 pounds, you want to be consistent for 10-20 weeks, and maybe longer to maintain a lifetime good habit.
This is why I suggest eating whatever you want. It makes the whole process a lot more enjoyable, and you don’t need to spend the effort to maintain the required consistency.
So, whenever you want to eat fast food, or any food for that matter, go ahead have some. Just remember to eat a smaller portion so that your appetite is satisfied and you don’t take in too much calories. Continue doing this you will successfully lose weight.
